The Alpha Male Blog Hop! [CONTEST]

19 Oct

The Alpha Male Blog Hop is hosted by
Carrie Ann Ryan.
Let the celebrations begin!

Hey peeps!

Welcome to the Alpha Male Blog Hop! Big thanks go to Carrie Ann Ryan for hosting.

There’s something so delicious about an Alpha male, isn’t there? A take charge kind of guy, who is no-nonsense and forceful and single-minded in his actions. However, my favourite kind of Alpha is one who protects and guards his heroine. Hmm. I don’t think I’m explaining it too well…I’ll try again.

I LOVE a story with a strong heroine, who may be the leader of a country, and the alpha male who is sworn to serve her. LOVE THIS WITH A PASSION! A great example of this is The Black Jewels Trilogy by Anne Bishop. These books are fairly littered with the alpha-iest of Alpha Males, and yet they crave being in the service of a worthy female. LOVE THIS SO VERY MUCH! I highly recommend these books, peeps, and suggest you check them out. Right now, in fact. I’ll wait :D

Are you back? Good! How cool are they? Super cool, right??

As for my own books, I would LOVE to write an alpha male, but I just don’t think I’m wired that way. Maybe one day, if I’m real good and eat all my vegetables (and, you know, write a character who’s an alpha), then it will happen. In the meantime, I’ll take the lovely Rupert from ROUGH DIAMOND!

Rought Diamond by Cassandra Dean

Owner of the Diamond Saloon and Theater, Alice Reynolds is astounded when a fancy Englishman offers to buy her saloon. She won’t be selling her saloon to anyone, let alone a man with a pretty, empty-headed grin…but then, she reckons that grin just might be a lie, and a man of intelligence and cunning resides beneath.

Rupert Llewellyn has another purpose for offering to buy the pretty widow’s saloon—the coal buried deep in land she owns. However, he never banked on her knowing eyes making him weak at the knees, or how his deception would burn upon his soul.

Each determined to outwit the other, they tantalize and tease until passion explodes. But can their desire bridge the lies told and trust broken?

And now, the contest#!

Congratulations on the release of your new book!

I’m not particular about Alpha or Beta — it really depends on the story and the hero’s chemistry with the heroine. ^_^

I love alpha males because they take charge, kick ass and look great while doing it! Just their commanding presence in a scene gives me the chills! I can’t just pick one so my favorite alpha males are Bones from Jeaniene Frost’s Night Huntress series and Barrons from Karen Marie Moning’s Fever series. Both are similar and different in so many ways but have the same stubbornness and raw animal magnetism that defines them as alphas.
Thanks for the awesome hope and for the chance to win!

I think the alpha is great for a fantasy man but the beta makes a better husband since he won’t just bowl you over with his thoughts. My favorite alpha is Nick from Riptide by Cherry Adair

  5. petulawinmill 20 October, 2012 at 6:57 am #

I do like the alphas. The ones in the historical romances are the best. Men had to be more manly. In the knights of old time. If you like adventure with your alpha males give any book by Kathryn Le Veque a try. I would love to read your Rough Diamond

I love Alphas, because I need someone as confident and dominant as me to be an equal in our relationship – I hate the feeling that my partner is less powerful than me and cannot make it without me.

My favourite Alpha male is Gabriel from Annette Curtis Klause’s Blood and Chocolate, because he’s strong, confident and willing to fight for what he wants.

I prefer a combo of alpha and beta traits. It takes me a while to find a story with beta heroes. As for some of my favorite alphas: Zarek from Dance with the Devil (Sherrilyn Kenyon), JR Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood heroes, and Shayla Black’s Doomsday Brethren heroes.

Why I love Alpha Males is no real surprise! The perfect Alpha Male for me could be a Vampire, a Scottish Laird, an English Rogue/Gentleman, a Werewolf or Shape-shifter, or a Knight. He’s the rogue who thinks he can’t be reformed into a gentleman. He’s the rough and scarred Scottish laird that has a heart of gold. He’s the werewolf or shape-shifter that needs to heal an aching heart because it took him years to find his true mate. He’s the vampire who has waited decades for that special someone’s blood to sing to him and wake him up. And he’s the knight who can defeat the enemy with a quick swing of his sword, but can’t see the love in front of his face. My Alpha Male has eyes that can see into your soul and are as blue as the sea, or as black as a storm. He’s tall and brooding. His heart can enfold you into its grasp and make you fall in love when he gives it to you freely and completely. He is protective and passionate. In the end he is the one that makes your heart jump and butterflies fly in your stomach, and still kiss you until your legs melt!

I’m definitely an all Alpha fan. Something about all that confidence and dominance that is a total turn-on.

  33. phaxx027 22 October, 2012 at 8:30 am #

Alpha males are awesome! Betas are too so got to love them ALL!
They have be dark, mysterious, protective, humorous, loving, strong, and just be themselves.
At them moment it’ll have to be Neville Roscoe from Stephanie Laurens’ The Lady Risks All. He is a great soft hearted man (second son of a Duke) who is making money for his family by portraying himself as a bad boy owner of a gambling house. He is also in a club called The Philanthropy Guild.

I think the best thing about Alpha Males is that they aren’t threatened by strong females.
If I went with favorite Alphas, not including the ones I write about, I’d have to pick all the Mackenzie men (and Mac) from Linda Howard’s Mackenzie series, then there’s the Doms in Cherise Sinclair’s Shadowland series (especially Master Sam).

Jack Gordon from Liz Crowe’s REALTOR series rocks!

Alpha males are the best….strong, independent, fiercely protective, but on the inside they are nothing but a big ol’ teddy bear! I love the way their mouths talk filthy, but their eyes portray their sensitive sweet. They can be rough and tough in the bedroom, but still have the gentle caress of an attentive and protective lover. It’s all in the heart…..alpha males are the best!

Thanks for participating in the hop!

The Diamond Throne.. not sexy but a fantastic fantasy with a grumpy alpha. :)

  44. J. Lenni Dorner 22 October, 2012 at 8:18 pm #

My favorite Alpha Male is Xavier (from my Existence series). I am also quite partial to Dr. Gregory House (of the tv show House M.D.), Sheriff Carter (of the tv show Eureka), and Chief (from “The Laughing Man” in JD Salinger’s Nine Stories).

But for a more romance-book-like character, Noah Clayborne from Julie Garwood’s “Shadow Dance” appeals to me as an Alpha because he is strong, intelligent, and has just the right amount of arrogance.

  46. Marlena Fein 23 October, 2012 at 4:21 am #

I like alpha males in my reading and shows only. I am a bit too forceful in real life to be with an alpha without an indictment being pursued! I have been that route before and it has not ended well. Anyhow, favorite alpha’s in books. I love the vampire alphas so therefore am going with Damon Salvatore from The Vampire Diaries series, and Eric from the Sookie Stackhouse (True Blood) series. I am sure they hold a place in my heart since they are also television shows that I can put faces with names, and the eye candy factor doesn’t hurt! Also, Rough Diamond has been added to the ever growing wish list.
Thanks so much for being a part of this blog hop. It is my first one and I am loving it!
