Hi peeps
Welcome to the Fall in Love with Fairytales blog hop, sponsored by Decadent Publishing and the Beyond Fairytales authors. I’m so honoured to be a part of this line and to be in the company of these fabulous ladies.
What is it about fairy tales that resonates so wholly with us? I know I love them to pieces, and probably began my life long love of stories. My absolute favourite was ‘Beauty and the Beast’, which has crept into my own work (*cough* TEACH ME, SILK & SCARS *cough). I was absolutely thrilled when I learned of Decadent Publishing’s Beyond Fairytales line. I immediately put my hand up and was consequently assigned ‘The Glass Coffin’, a Brother Grimm tale. A tailor wanders into a forest and finds a princess in a coffin of glass, guarded by a bear and stag. To win the princess and a kingdom, he must defeat the bear, the stag and the magician who imprisoned the princess. The tale is similar to ‘Sleeping Beauty’, so I incorporated bits from both tales into my own version, SLUMBER.
In the land of Dormiraa, Fashion is everything and those who create it rule the world. Second only in consequence to the king, the tailor rules the Fashion Houses and is the head adviser to the crown. The hero of SLUMBER, Sebastian, has lied and schemed and cheated to become tailor and, having finally reached the exalted position, is nonplussed when the king tasks him to finding the lost princess.
Thalia, princess of Dormiraa, has been lost these last seven years amongst the people of Dormiraa, learning of their lives and their passions. Finally found, she is resigned to returning to her royal position to take her place as queen.
However, not everyone desires the princess’s return. On the road back to the capital, Thalia and Sebastian encounter strife and danger which brings them closer together…but could also tear them apart.
I had such fun writing SLUMBER and incorporating bits and pieces of both tales into my story. The glass coffin became a medical device used to stabilise and heal the deathly ill. The spindle became the Spindles, a separatist group protesting against the king. The bear and stag became Bharia and Stahg, Thalia’s guardians and protectors. I hope you enjoy just as much!
Over the past two weeks, you will find posts from the authors behind the Beyond Fairytales series. We have spaceships, cowboys, owls, princesses, princes, and geese. If you like M/F, M/M, F/F, or ménage, you’ll find at least one of each. Each one is unique and indescribably naughty. If you’ve gobbled up all of the collections already, be sure to check out the Beyond Fairytales blog for new releases and additional books.
But it’s not over yet! There’s more fun on the way. Tomorrow, visit my fellow Green Book-er, Linnea Alexis, for the next stop.
